National Park Ranthambore was the hunting ground of Maharaja of Jaipur. In 1955 he was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1980, it became a park National. But with the commissioning of Project Tiger in 1972, it was included in the project. With the addition of neighbors and Keladevi Mansingh sanctuaries, the total area Park is 1334 square kilometers. But the entire park – the core area is only 392 sq kms – is not open to the public. Ranthambore Park is set between the Aravalli and Vindhya ranges. Its deciduous forests were once part of the magnificent jungle Central India. The terrain is hilly and there are rocky ridges, hills and open valleys where lakes and pools.
Ranthambore is a heritage site because of the picturesque ruins that dot the park. There The palaces are lower lake, chhatris', old fortifications and a majestic 1000 year old fort overlooking the park. The lovely Jogi Mahal is located at the foot of the fort and gives magnificent view of the Padam Talao, painted white with water lilies. The park is famous for tigers and due to conservation efforts, the tiger population has stabilized if not increased here. The tigers can be spotted quite often even during the day to their normal lives – hunting and taking care for their young. Ranthambore is one of the best places to see these majestic predators.
Population: Ranthambore National Park
The tigers are the top attractions of the park. Other inmates of the park are antelopes, nilgai, Sambhar and Chital, which are easy to spot. Those who lucky chance to see the Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Chinkara, porcupines and jackals, Leopard, Jungle Cat and Marsh Crocodile.
The lakes and water holes in the park are the best places to view animals. These water bodies are filled with lotus and water lilies. Ranthambore is also a large population of birds resident and migratory. There are about 264 species of birds found in the park. Indian Hare, Mongoose and Monitor lizards can also be found.
How to get there – Ranthambore National Park
The closest town to the park target = "_blank"> Sawai Madhopur. This location also offers the nearest railhead for the national park. It is 11 km from Ranthambore. Make sure the trains, if you are planning to reach the place by rail. The nearest airport is Jaipur which is about 145 km. There are regular flights from different airlines for this place. From Jaipur we must take the road to access the national park.

The accommodations are excellent in and around Ranthambore National Park.There are heritage hotels, hotels and rest houses and the RTDC Taj Group also has a hotel here. The Lodge Maharaja by the Taj Group offers a world-class hospitality. The rest house forest Jogi Mahal inside the park and the Hotel Kamadhenu are few hotels maintained by the RTDC. Jhoom Baori Forest Lodge is managed by the RTDC. These hotels and rest houses are designed to suit all budgets. Few local and private accommodation also available.
Climate – Ranthambore National Park
Located in Rajasthan, the Ranthambore reserve is influenced by the type of desert climate. The vegetation anddeciduous which is mostly dry, provides good protection for animals. The climate is generally dry, but the annual rainfall is sufficient to support population of the park. In fact, Ranthambore is one of the green spots in the otherwise barren landscape of the state.

The most fascinating trip and more People from the National Park of Ranthambore Fort. This fortress was built by Chauhans the 10th century. The fort is in a very strategic position between the northern and central India and hence it has always been coveted by many rulers. This fortress is famous for the 'Johar' (suicide by immolation to escape humilitaion) by Rajput women in 1301AD during the siege by Ala-ud-din Khilji. The temples and tanks add to the beauty Fort. The seven gates and massive curtain walls, crowning a fall shows a hill with majestic views.
Best Time
Park is open to visitors from October to June But the best season to visit Ranthambore is from November to April. This is when animals can be easily identified.

Travel Park: Project Tiger Reserve
The park is visited by a jeep or truck. The reservation of these can be done at the Project Tiger Office at Sawai Madhopur. The tour is accompanied by a guide. In the park, we must stick to the route allocated. Entry is relatively expensive, with rights entry of a leased vehicle, guide and camera being charged separately.
