Attitudes toward money from Russia
Lynn Visson "Strangers married" explains "
"For Russia, the sin ultimate being stingy. Americans are considered tight fists. "
Russians and Americans have very different views money. This is understandable, given that the Russians have been raised under the Soviet system and the Americans were raised under a capitalist system.
Under the Soviet system, Russians had money in their pocket, but no place for pass. Jobs, medical care, apartments, pensions basic necessities that are needed for life have been provided state.
The problem is that the state has decided what they produce. Choice of property was not available. Was if the product was still available. The goods were scarce. You can compare prices even if you wanted.
You do not have to worry about spending too much money because there was not too goods to spend money.
There are stories to illustrate life in the Soviet era. When you walked in the street and you saw a queue of people, you have online, even if you did not know why the line was Formatting and what you expect.
Anyway, it was rare and the people he wanted, so it was better to put online before you've missed OUT.
Conversely, Americans have more money, but they have a thousand choices on how to spend that money. The system of the entire American consumer is designed to make you spend money on whatever product is announced. They complement the choice multiple with easy credit.
The trick in the American system is to understand what it is really important to you. Becomes important make wise choices because there are so many choices available. Shopping for bargains and good value becomes imperative to survive American capitalism. Your choices are virtually unlimited. You could spend hundreds of thousands of times your income in America without giving a second thought.
Problem is that you soon find yourself wallowing in consumer debt.
Americans value their ability to negotiate a good deal and find a good case. They brag about the deals they get. They are proud of their ability to make the most of their money. To get the highest possible standard of living is the goal of American consumer society.
For this same reason, Americans are proud of their success and the assets they have accumulated. They think they can attract a Russian woman telling her about their ability to provide for her.
They brag about their income and wealth to impress her, then they turn around and tell him about what a good negotiator, they are demanding the best price for things.
These features are useful in American society. But all this talk about money makes them sound like Ebenezer Scrooge to women in Russia they try to impress.
To a Russian, who earns a dollar for each fifty dollars U.S. wins an American sounds incredibly cheap when they talk about what a difficult market, they pushed to buy something.
You seem more like a miser for them.
When you talk about how you got a great price on airline tickets to see her, it reserves the right story about the picture, since it is concerned. Your meeting takes on the air of a commercial transaction rather a romantic interlude.
To a Russian, you either have money or you do not. You can either give something, or you can not. You do not brag about how you falling prices eroded someone. You do not talk about money. It is considered bad taste.
"First, they brag about how much money they have and they complain about the price," Russian women say. "How they count their money!"
America is a market society. Talking about money is normal for them.
Russians know that Americans are much more money than them. But they do not understand anything about the types of expenses that the American style a.
The Russians have monthly expenses of rent, food, telephone, hot water and heat in winter. These expenditures may have cost fifty to one hundred dollars per month.
When you say you make three thousand dollars per month, for example, they mentally subtract one hundred dollars for expenses, and they think they have twenty nine hundred dollars to spend money on things they want.
Russians have no idea the types of payments that Americans do every month. They do not understand that recurring payments such as mortgages, car payments, insurance, cable, telephone and other expenses add up to a large part of their monthly check.
The average American family has a standard of living, which is only accessible to upper income class in Russia.
Russians do not pay tax on income and they do not realize that you must pay as much as 25-35 percent of your income for income tax, plus property taxes, sales tax, and other excise taxes.
A Russian woman is definitely interested in your financial situation. She wants to know that you have a steady job and are able take care of her and the children you may be. Tell him that you have your own home. Tell him that you can take good care of her and her children.
Talk about shopping and cultural facilities where you live. Tell her about restaurants and cafes. Tell him the time and local recreational facilities. Tell him television, movies, and other lifestyle considerations.
Tell her about the schools. Tell him what you like about your job, your family, your home and community where you live. Tell her why she loves him too.
Just do not go into many financial details. Whatever how much you try to explain, it just will not understand. Do not talk about money if you must.
