Is a company legally authorized to say they will not re-issue a check lost in the mail no later than thirty days?

My salary has been lost in the mail and when I called and asked that they put a stop payment on the check and deliver me a new one, they said that it is their company policy not to issue a new check until thirty days after the audit was originally issued. Is this legal?

Yes, they have the right to make sure it is not cashed by you or someone else if it was stolen.
