Promoting culture in British Columbia

British Columbia is dedicated to the promotion of culture within its provincial borders. The government of this region of Canada provides people who make contributions intellectual in society are recognized for their donations. Thus, the province has established the British Columbia Achievement Foundation to celebrate the achievements members of the community.

British Columbia Achievement Foundation recognizes cultural excellence by providing nine categories of awards each year. Perhaps the most expensive of these honors is the BC Community Achievement Award. Last year, forty-five people have received this award. They were appointed chosen by their peers based on measures taken to improve their communities. This includes a major contribution in sports, multiculturalism, leadership youth volunteerism, and more. Recipients must also have received at least two letters of support from people who have worked with them.

Two of the British Columbia Achievement Award of the Foundation focus specifically on the promotion of literacy in the province. One of them is the BC National Award for Canadian Non-Fiction. It is a literary award for the whole of Canada. Each year, an author receives this honor for his contribution to the genre of writing non-fiction. The most recent winner was Lorna Goodson, who was honored for his memoirs convincing his family.

The other literary prize awarded by the British Columbia Achievement Foundation is the time Read award for early literacy. The recipient of this award receives $ 15,000 for his exceptional piece of children's literature. To ensure that children have access to this room the honor of literature, the British Columbia Ministry of Education ensure that each student K in the province receives a copy.

British Columbia also recognizes the artistic achievements of its citizens. Here, the definition art is very broad. For instance, recent recipients of British Columbia Creative Achievement Award included a jewelry manufacturer, fashion designer, ceramics, and even an industrial designer. Meanwhile, Joseph Plaskett price provides a graduate student in British Columbia with $ 25,000 for a scholarship paint. Finally, British Columbia also offers separate Creative Achievement Award for his contributions to Aboriginal art. These are given to artists First Nations in BC who express their ideals through art community.

As you can see, British Columbia is a real commitment to cultural promotion. It awards help inspire people to contribute to their community and the nation of Canada as a whole. Thus, the British Columbia Achievement Foundation is a model that other provinces and even other countries, should strive to follow.
